Entry #13 - I'll Buy That For A Dollar

I asked myself, what does this mean? I believe there is some deep meaning in this gag from Robocop. I'LL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR. The catchphrase is a comforting mystery. It warms your heart and haunts your dreams. All at the same time.

LOOK AT HIS FACE. HIS FACE. WHY DOES THIS MAN CAUSE SO MUCH JOY AND PAIN? OUR HAPPINESS COMES AT A PRICE.

Urban Dictionary says this about the subject:

Derived from a slang phrase in a famous science fiction story "The Marching Morons" by C.M. Kornbluth, in which a popular catchphrase for asking 'would you believe it?' was "Would you buy it for a quarter?". In the intervening years, inflation has been occurring.
a:" Think my car needs cleaning?"
b:" I'll buy that for a dollar!"

MAKES SENSE ONLY FOR THE WEAK.
