WHAT I REMEMBER.
Show #1 - Some sitcom with a guy with long hair, who became a teacher. Episodes consisted of him teaching and having different comedic problems. I assume.
Show #2 - Some Sci-Fi show about Space Truckers. Took place in space and they hauled things and stuff. I'm picturing Dennis Hopper in this, maybe it's a TV movie.
Show #3 - I children show about an alien named Allen who lives in a kids attic. It's not ALF nor anything like it.
Show #4 - A comedy central show about a strip mall. I think its starred some old MTV VJ.
Show #5 - A sketch comedy show on MTV in the early 90's that's not The State. The opening credits involved train tracks. It was a weird show.
WHAT SHOWS ARE THEY REALLY.
Show #1 - Mr. Rhodes (1996)
Summary According to imdb: Tom Rhodes is the new hip writer. He has written one novel which was critically acclaimed but a commercial failure. He must resort to teaching at his old prep school where he meets some familiar faces and old demons. But what do you do when the teacher is often more undisciplined than his students?
Lasted One Season (17 episodes) . Starred comedian Tom Rhodes.
This show featured a barely known comedian made during the days of Seinfeld, when every channel was giving every comedian a TV show. But surprisingly, great character actor and amazing podcaster Stephen Tobolowsky had a supporting role in this show. But I did find the pilot of youtube, Its your run of the mil sitcom. Basically the show is Yo' Teach.
Show #2 - Space Truckers (1996) Directed by Stuart Gordon
Summary According to imdb: John Canyon is one of the last independent space transport entrepreneurs. Rough times force him to carry suspicious cargo to Earth without questions being asked. During the flight the cargo turns out to be multitude of unstoppable and deadly killer robots.
Actually this is not a TV movie or a TV Show, but a theatrical feature. Its stars Dennis Hopper and Stephen Dorff and directed by great horror director Stuart Gordon. I must thought it was a TV show since I saw it many times on late night television. The film was pretty much straight to video and HBO. I'm going to see if I can score a copy somewhere.
Show #3 - The Journey of Allen Strange (1997-2000)
Summary According to imdb: An alien child has been left behind on Earth. He befriends two human children and it is up to them to find a way to get him back home while they try to keep him secret.
Lasted Three Seasons (57 Episodes)
Was on Nickelodeon and after watching the opening, I really don't have an opinion. I try to track down the pilot.
Show #4 - Strip Mall (2000-2001)
Summary According to imdb: During the 1970's Tammi (pronounced TA-mee) Tyler was one of the stars of the sitcom "Here Comes Corky." Her acting career was then cut short unexpectedly when, after eating a cupcake laced with PCP, she killed her costar, Captain Billy. In the intervening years Tammi grew up amid obscurity. Now, Tammi was employed by the Funky Fox Cafe in the San Fernando Valley's Plaza del Toro shopping center, and was hoping for a comeback. As she explained to barmaid Patti in the first episode, she hoped the marry the next man to visit the Funky Fox. Embarrassingly, it turned out to be Harve Krudup who owned the Starbrite Cleaners laundry store at the shopping center. Tammi felt that the store was part of a Beverly Hills-based chain, only to realize that it was the only laundry store Harve owned. Tammi's attempts to make a comeback in Hollywood formed most of the stories for this sitcom.
Lasted Two Seasons (22 Episodes) Starred Julie Brown (MTV) and Jim O'Heir (Jerry on Parks and Recreations)
Longest summary I have ever seen on imdb. Seriously, this is a long summary. Why, I could easily cut that down to like two sentences. But I won't. Any-who, This show was on Comedy Central and Bobcat Goldthwait directed some episodes. This doesn't look too bad.
Show #5 - Austin Stories (1997)
Summary According to imdb: The story of three friends - Laura , A newspaper columnist, Howard, a homeless slacker, and Chip, a misdirected career-vagabond, - and their misadventures together.
Lasted One Season (12 Episodes)
This isn't a sketch show, but a very strange sitcom. This show is very original and very nineties. This was before MTV went down hill and was offering good entertainment. I was able to find an episode and its full of strange characters. It like an more adult version of Pete & Pete.
